Message from the Chairman, Governing Body
International medical College (IMC) started its journey in the year 2000 with the vision to become a leading healthcare organization of the country and to position itself as a Center of Excellence in medical education and research. By the grace of Almighty, we have reached to that point, its aim is to produce highly capable medical professionals so that they can deliver excellent healthcare services to the society and conduct useful research for the benefit of our distressed community. Apart from being a service organization, International medical College endeavors to bring changes in the health sector of the country through promoting ethical behavior to all and conduction useful researches. With that in view, IMC always attracts brilliant teachers, students and researchers from all over the world.
We started with only twenty students but over the years, the student population of IMC has grown significantly and now, in the 17th year of our inception, we have more than 600 students including 75 foreign students pursuing MBBS course in our college. So far 312 students passed out from our College with diverse and dynamic knowledge and training in medical science and entered in to medical profession and another 56 students are currently undergoing internship training. We are always committed to provide our students with a very congenial learning environment and also expect from them compassion, professional attitude and conduct and hence we emphasize on better learning by the students. The fruit of our efforts have been demonstrated in the academic performance of our student in the Dhaka University Professional exams. For last three years, the Pass Rate of Final Professional MBBS examination remained over 88% and have reached among the top few.
Since inception of the college, we have been striving hard to bring in excellence in the learning process of our students. IMC is the only Medical College in the country to sign an Agreement of Cooperation with an international University- Kean University, NJ, USA a 175 years old State University Cooperate is in the field of Students exchange, faculty exchange, scientific exchange and curricular development. Under this agreement, Kean University has sent a number of US Faculties to IMC to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to our students with a view to make them proficient in English language, which is one of the prime requirements for medical professionals to meet the challenges of the day. This will help student to augment their creativity, individuality and leadership ability and will give them the competitive edge over students and medical professionals of other similar institutions. After successful completion students get ESL Certificate from Kean University, USA.
As a joint-venture of IMC and KU, Kean Bangladesh Center (KBC) has been established to impart training and education to students on ESL, TOFEL, IELTS, USMLE, CHFNS, NCLES etc. KBC also provides KU Admission Information Service to prospective students. Kean University offers Scholarship in the form of full tuition waiver to eligible candidates applying through KBC. We are in the process of entering into an agreement with Northwestern Medical Review, USA for providing online USMLE Preparatory course to medical students and graduates at KBC.
We also took the initiative to open avenues for our health professionals to go to the Western world to seek better opportunities. We have set up the first Kryterion Online Testing Center of our country in Dhaka under an agreement with Kryterion Testing Network, USA. Through this network our doctors, nurses, and other professionals as well can appear in various international professional examinations at doorstep. After qualifying they can find jobs abroad in USA, Canada, UK, Australia and other countries and thereby earn a lot for the country.
Still we feel that it is a never ending strife. We intend to open door of opportunities and contribute as much as we can for the fortune seekers of Bangladesh with well-groomed personality and perfect human qualities.
